当医生需要判断乳腺癌的发展是否受雌激素和/或孕酮激素影响时，可进行此项检测。
何种样本？
活组织检查采集的乳房肿瘤组织，或在乳房肿瘤切除术手术、乳房切除术时切除的肿瘤组织。

检测什么？
雌激素受体（ER）和孕酮受体（PR）为机体某些细胞的特异性蛋白质。这些受体可与雌激素和孕酮（血液中的女性激素）结合，可促进细胞的生长和分化。
许多乳腺癌肿瘤通常具有大量的雌激素或孕酮受体（称为激素依赖型肿瘤），雌激素和/或孕酮可促进其生长。通过检测激素受体水平可了解乳房肿瘤组织是否具有这些受体。
