检测什么？
HCG是怀孕妇女胎盘产生的一种蛋白。妊娠试验是一种通过检测血或尿中含有HCG而证实怀孕的特殊试验。这种激素能够在停经10天，受精卵着床后检测到。也有一些方法，能够在更早的时期，受孕后7天检测到。
在怀孕开始的几周，HCG在维持黄体机能方面有重要作用。在妊娠早期（8-10周），HCG的产生不断增加，末次月经后第十周达峰值。怀孕后期，HCG量逐渐呈下降趋势。至分娩几周后，HCG不能检测到。此外，在滋养层细胞病，HCG水平也呈现上升趋势；一些生殖细胞瘤疾病也会产生HCG。
测试样本如何采集？
常规检测尿液中HCG。首选清晨的随机尿样本。采集自肘静脉采集血液样本，也能用于HCG检测。

有何用途？
HCG的定性（报告为阳性或阴性）检测常规用于确证怀孕。HCG定量（报告某一具体数值）检测（也称ß-HCG），检测血中存在HCG实际的量。它能帮助诊断异位妊娠，帮助诊断和监测怀孕，帮助监测流产后妇女的状况。此外，HCG定量检测能用于诊断滋养层细胞病、睾丸或卵巢的生殖细胞瘤。它也能用监测治疗情况和肿瘤的复发。
何时检测？
尿或血的HCG定性试验能在妇女停经10天后进行，以确证是否怀孕（有些方法在受孕一周后即可检测到HCG）。对患者在几天内血中HCG的定量试验往往被用于排除异位妊娠或对流产后的监控。当怀疑是滋养层细胞病或怀疑有生殖细胞肿瘤存在时，医生也会要求病人做HCG的定量试验。
试验结果的含义？
正常情况下不能检测到非孕妇女尿中的HCG。孕早期，血中HCG水平每隔两到三天加倍增高一次，异位妊娠妇女其HCG成倍增长持续的时期往往更长一些。流产妇女的HCG水平通常表现为成倍增长时期延长或HCG浓度降低，流产后HCG水平会迅速下降。若HCG仍可以检测出，意味着需要去除维持HCG产生的组织。
HCG也用于监控滋养层细胞病疾患者的治疗过程，以及发现治疗完成后疾病的复发。在治疗过程中，HCG水平下降通常表明肿瘤对治疗有反应，而HCG升高则表明肿瘤对治疗没有反应。治疗后HCG水平的增高往往表明疾病的复发。
还有什么我需要了解的吗？
HCG的检测在怀孕早期进行，此时HCG还未达到显著的水平，易产生假阴性的结果，而尿中的血或蛋白质可导致假阳性结果的产生。对于稀释的尿液标本，尿HCG试验会给出假阴性的结果。受试者应该注意在留取尿液标本前不要大量饮水。
利尿剂和异丙嗪（抗组胺药）这些药物也会导致尿HCG假阴性的结果。而抗惊厥药、抗震颤麻痹药、安眠药和安定剂会导致假阳性的结果。
此外，还有几种复合物（非药物）会相互干扰试验，导致血清HCG假阳性的报道。这些物质包括在一些个体和HCG分子碎片中存在的特定的抗体。通常情况下，如果结果有争议，会用不同的方法进行确证。
